Stripping/Clipping

We offer either hand or knife stripping and clipping and will be happy to advise which technique would best suit your dog’s coat.

Knife stripping is suitable for many breeds. The technique allows us to break the coat down gently without damaging the hair follicles, therefore, keeping the texture of the coat intact.  As the coat is not taken so short, the finished dog will appear more naturally presented and the coat tends to grow more slowly.  Dogs that are stripped tend not to need bathing so often.

Clipping is a popular choice for owners who prefer a very neat finish as the coat is taken quite close and is more sculptured.  The disadvantage of this technique is that dogs need to be bathed beforehand, and the coat grows quicker, therefore, dogs need clipping more often.

Included in your trim price.

We will trim nails and clean ears and anal glands where necessary and bring to your attention anything we feel needs more specialist advice.  We do not treat ear conditions—this is a job for your vet.

Bath & Dry

If you would like your dog bathed when he is trimmed, or between  trims, we offer a bath/dry service.  Dogs are bathed in natural shampoos, or we will use your own if you prefer. We dry all dogs by hand to cause as little stress to your dog as possible.
